Introduction

Dhanyamladhara is a highly effective Ayurvedic therapeutic treatment used in Panchakarma therapy, known for its detoxifying and rejuvenating effects. The term Dhanyamla refers to a medicated liquid prepared from fermented cereals (like rice, millet, and horse gram), citrus fruits, and herbal decoctions. Dhara means continuous pouring thus, Dhanyamladhara involves a rhythmic pouring of this warm medicated liquid over the body or specific parts.

Therapeutic Procedure

The fermented Dhanyamla liquid is gently heated and poured in a continuous stream over the body using a special vessel, while the patient lies on a traditional wooden table (Droni). The therapy is accompanied by gentle massage movements to enhance circulation and absorption. A typical Dhanyamladhara session lasts about 30 to 45 minutes and is usually performed for 7 to 14 days, depending on the health condition and physician’s advice.
